Credentials and Professional Background of Dr. Uzair Syed, MD
Our journey began in 2014 when we acquired Family Practice Center of Palatine, an established primary care practice serving the local community. While continuing to provide comprehensive family medicine, we recognized that many patients struggled to access timely care for unexpected illnesses and minor injuries. Our vision was to create a model that combined traditional primary care with walk-in immediate care, giving patients convenient access to treatment without sacrificing continuity of care. After successfully transforming and growing the practice, we expanded our mission by acquiring Immediate Care Plus in 2018, bringing the same patient-centered approach to another community. In 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we established Suburban Medical Group to meet the growing demand for accessible healthcare. Throughout the pandemic, our providers and staff remained committed to serving the community by providing timely evaluation, testing, treatment, and follow-up care when patients needed it most. Since the beginning, our goal has been simple: to make high-quality healthcare more accessible by providing comprehensive primary care and immediate care services seven days a week.
Our mission is to improve the health of the communities we serve by making healthcare accessible, compassionate, and convenient. We strive to deliver the right care at the right time while emphasizing prevention, patient education, chronic disease management, and long-term wellness. We believe every patient deserves timely access to quality medical care close to home.
We believe healthcare should be personal. Every patient deserves to be heard, respected, and treated as an individual rather than simply a diagnosis. We focus on building lasting relationships, educating patients about their health, and partnering with them to make informed decisions. By combining primary care with immediate care, we provide both continuity and convenience in one practice.
What truly differentiates our practice is our integrated model of care. Patients can establish a long-term relationship with a primary care provider while also receiving same-day treatment for urgent, non-emergency illnesses and injuries—all within the same healthcare system. We also offer on-site laboratory services, digital X-ray imaging, occupational medicine, School/Sports physicals, weight management services, and telemedicine visits, making healthcare more convenient and efficient.
We believe great healthcare extends beyond a single office visit. Our providers collaborate closely with patients’ primary care physicians, specialists, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and coordination of care. We spend time listening, educating, and developing individualized treatment plans so patients feel informed and confident in their healthcare decisions.
Every day brings something new. Our team treats patients of all ages with a wide range of healthcare needs—from preventive visits and chronic disease management to acute illnesses, workplace injuries, and urgent medical concerns. While the pace can be fast, our staff works together as one team with a shared commitment to delivering compassionate, efficient, and high-quality care.
We want every patient to know that we are here when you need us. Whether you need preventive care, management of a chronic condition, or treatment for an unexpected illness or injury, our goal is to provide timely, compassionate, and comprehensive care. We treat every patient with the same respect, kindness, and attention we would want for our own families.
Our greatest achievement has been earning the trust of the communities we serve while continuing to expand access to healthcare. Opening Suburban Medical Group during the COVID-19 pandemic and remaining available to care for patients during one of the most challenging periods in modern medicine is a milestone we are especially proud of. Equally important has been the successful growth of our practices while maintaining our commitment to personalized, patient-centered care.
Compassionate. Collaborative. Accessible.
Trust begins with listening. We take time to understand each patient’s concerns, explain diagnoses and treatment options in clear language, and encourage questions. We believe honesty, empathy, and open communication are the foundation of long-lasting patient relationships.
One of the most rewarding aspects of our practice has been partnering with a local community relief organization to improve access to healthcare for underserved individuals. I volunteer 2-3 hours each week to offer free telehealth consultations, helping patients address their healthcare needs who might otherwise go without care. When additional testing is needed, we coordinate laboratory services and X-rays at minimal cost to reduce financial barriers.
Medicine offers the unique opportunity to improve lives every single day. The ability to diagnose illness, relieve suffering, educate patients, and build lasting relationships continues to be both professionally rewarding and personally meaningful. Seeing patients recover and knowing we have made a positive difference in their lives remains our greatest motivation.
Our physicians and advanced practice providers maintain memberships in their respective professional organizations and participate regularly in continuing medical education to remain current with the latest advances in medicine and clinical practice.
Our providers share a common passion for improving people’s lives through compassionate, evidence-based healthcare. The opportunity to care for patients during both routine and unexpected moments, build meaningful relationships, and make a lasting difference in the health of our communities continues to inspire us every day.
